5. Il Nuovo Pignone e Vibo Marina tra antropizzazione, sviluppo e lavoro, Roberto Maria Naso Naccari Carlizzi, pp. 97-114
Abstract: The Nuovo Pignone plant, opened in 1963, has led to a growth throughout the province over the years, not only in terms of employment, but also in terms of changes and transformations in the area. Over the decades, the company’s presence has increased employment numbers and related industries. Although it has contributed to “transforming” the area from an anthropological point of view, its sustainability and environmental policies make this almost imperceptible to those travelling along the SP522 road. Nuovo Pignone’s presence has contributed to enhancing and growing the image of the area, contributing not only financially but also to the growth of the community and leaving its mark on the urban fabric. Fundamental for integration with the population has been the presence, for 30 years, of the sports center, which has contributed to the growth, through sport, of several generations. Nuovo Pignone is one of the few cases of successful public investment that has stood the test of time; a fundamental resource for an area that unfortunately still has a lot of untapped potential (figura 1).
